Join the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Latino for a free festival exploring how families and communities across the United States mark the transition to adulthood.
From ritual and meaning to style, self-expression and memory, the festival will feature pop-up demonstrations, a fashion show, dance lessons and activities for the whole family. The afternoon program will be followed by a Community Quince Celebration featuring music, dancing and quinceañera cake.
The program also features the museum’s new children’s book, My Sister’s Quinceañera, created in collaboration with Crown Books for Young Readers. Together, the activities highlight the creativity, entrepreneurship and community connections that shape quinceañera traditions and coming-of-age experiences across the United States.
