? Las Mariposas is made up of Elin, Karina, and Mikaela. Their name is inspired by the Mirabal sisters from the Dominican Republic and was chosen as a symbol of strength, sisterhood, and freedom—values that are at the heart of everything they do.Through Latin Beats, they create free community spaces where people can come together to share their love of dance and music, especially salsa and bachata. They also offer free workshops for both beginners and dancers who want to continue developing their skills. ?? Every Tuesday, you can find them at Uppsala Danscenter (UDC), where they teach Dominican bachata and welcome dancers of all experience levels.
Tonight, Las Mariposas will also be providing the music for the social dance. Elin (DJ Alma), Karina (DJ Bunnita), and Mikaela (DJ Mica la Suprema) will mainly be playing bachata throughout the evening, with a few salsa tracks mixed in, of course! ?✨
Las Mariposas is hosting a two-part bachata workshop! ???
In the first part, they will focus on your bachata basic and explore how to develop it to create a natural flow in your dancing.
In the second part, they’ll build on those foundations with partnerwork, giving you practical tools and combinations that you can use right away during the social dance.
