Double-bass virtuoso Larry Gray brings his trio to Studio5
A musician’s musician and a legendary presence on the Chicago music scene, Larry Gray has performed with an extraordinary roster of artists, including Jack DeJohnette, Bobby Hutcherson, Joe Williams, McCoy Tyner, Benny Golson, James Moody, Sonny Stitt, Larry Coryell, Kenny Burrell, Joe Pass, Clark Terry and J.J. Johnson.
A rare musician who moves effortlessly between jazz and classical music, Gray is a virtuoso on multiple instruments, most notably double bass and cello. While he has performed at Studio5 before, this appearance marks his first time leading his own group here and will feature some of his original compositions.
Joining Larry are two exceptional musicians: drummer Clif Wallace and Sierra Leone–born pianist LLN.
Expect a special evening of deep, adventurous music from three astounding artists.
