My First Cassette Tape: Vivaldi & BoccheriniSaturday, December 5 at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Guy Fishman, L'Armonia Boston's Artistic Director, fell in love with both the cello and baroque music when his first teacher gifted him a cassette tape of cello concertos by Antonio Vivaldi and Luigi Boccherini, a composer compared to Haydn and called ‘the Devil’ for his own stunning cello playing. What's a cassette tape, you ask? That's okay, Millenials are warmly welcomed here, too. Join them for long-loved virtuoso music by these two 18th-century masters, selected from amongst Guy's earliest musical memories. It will be performed on instruments sounding as Antonio & Luigi knew them to sound, by seasoned experts on period instruments alongside gifted up-and-coming performers from New England Conservatory's Pratt Early Music Program.
Reception & Parking
Post-concert receptions include COMPLIMENTARY beer & hors d’oeuvres from our partners MIGHTY SQUIRREL BREWING CO. & FORMAGGIO KITCHEN. Parking at Gore Place (52 Gore St. in Waltham) is FREE.
We are L'Armonia Boston.
We perform music that moves and excites us. We seek to transport you momentarily into the world of its first audiences. The historically-informed approach we cultivate enlivens the music with the qualities and the color palette and the very instruments the composer was writing for.
