Lari Basilio is a brazilian guitarist, songwriter and producer. She was considered by Guitar World Magazine "one of the most exciting names in instrumental rock" and also described as "one of today's most tasteful guitar virtuosos".
Born in São Paulo, Brazil she started studying the organ at the age of 4. At age 8, her father, a musician, taught her chords on an acoustic guitar and that’s when she fell in love with the instrument. By the time she was a teenager, she started private guitar lessons with a variety of instructors, one a well-known jazz guitarist in Brazil, Djalma Lima.
In 2010, Lari graduated from law school, at Universidade São Judas Tadeu in São Paulo, Brazil and got her professional license at the Brazilian attorneys association (Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil). Lari worked as a lawyer for about 1 year until she decided to stop the law career to pursue her music career.
She then started her musical journey as a guitarist playing in bands and churches in Brazil. In 2011, she started her solo career, working on her instrumental five-song Extended Play (EP), named, simply, Lari Basilio, which features Felipe Andreoli, bass player of Angra. The EP was produced by the five-time Latin Grammy winner Lampadinha.
Her second original record, the album and DVD The Sound of My Room was released in August, 2015 and it was premiered at the iconic Brazilian movie theater Cine Belas Artes in São Paulo.
Lari's third original album, Far More (2019), was recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles featuring as band: Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), Nathan East (bass) and Greg Phillinganes (keys/piano). The Far More release included two special guests: Joe Satriani (on the track “Glimpse of Light”) and Siedah Garrett (on the track “Man in the Mirror” for which Lari created a new arrangement). The album was produced by Lari Basilio and Rodrigo Rios.
In 2022 Lari Basilio produced and released the album Your Love which was recorded at United Recording Studios in Los Angeles and features once again Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), and also bass players Sean Hurley and Leland Sklar, and Ester Na (keys and piano).
Lari Basilio’s new album Redemption was released on May 16th, 2025. Recorded at EastWest Studios, Los Angeles, Lari was joined again by the legendary Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), Sean Hurley and Leland Sklar (bass) and Mari Jacintho (keys).
