About this Event
Lara Gallagher is an Irish sound artist and performer. She performs interdisciplinary improvisatory work, composes new works for contemporary ensembles, presents spatial installations and works across an array of mediums from dance to theatre. Her work premiered this year as part of Music Current festival and Zeitgeist, with her newest performance work premiering at Alternating Current 2025 in May. She completed her masters in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts at the Universität der Künste in Berlin in 2022.
Berlin-based artist Özgür Yılmaz’s work spans sound and visual arts. Originally from Istanbul his art draws on themes of social relations, politics, human conflict, and post-industrial aesthetics. In his sonic pieces, he balances improvisation and composition, creating a unique auditory landscape. He holds a BA in Composition and Audio Technologies from Istanbul, and an MA in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts from Universität der Künste Berlin.
Arthur Greene is a pianist, organist and composer based in Kildare. He studied the organ under Dr. David Adams at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. From there he graduated with a distinction for his masters in performance. Classical music, improvisation, jazz, world music, and traditional Irish music are central to his practice. He enjoys drawing from varied influences during performances. In spring 2024 he spent 2 months in India studying carnatic music under 9th generation vina maestro, Karaikudi Subramanian.
Together this trio meld to create sonic and musical explorations fusing a number of traditional and contemporary genres. Using free improvisation, drawing from traditional jazz harmonic progressions and exploring extension and experimentation through live electronics, they strive to create unique, ever-evolving sonic landscapes.
