Lanceford Brown: Uncommonwealth Art Exhibition: Private View

The Commonwealth includes wealthy nations like the UK and Canada. It also includes developing countries. Small island nations that have different needs compared to massive countries like India or Australia. There is no parity across the Commonwealth, and this shows major gaps in wealth, size, and political rights. This exhibition explores themes of unity and resistance, the lens of what the artist has called ‘Uncommonwealth’.

Lanceford Brown works primarily in acrylic and water colours. His work has featured in the BP Portrait Award 2004, and he was a contestant on Sky Portrait Artist of the Year.
