JJ Kent is a musician and educator who is a descendant of his grandmother’s full-blooded Muskogee heritage. He is also the adopted son of Joyce Bell, a full-blooded Lakota woman from the Oglala band. Kent is the 2009 recipient of the Native American Music Awards Flutist of the Year and performs country music with his band JJ Kent & The Acess & 8's.
