This November, we’re inviting every neighborhood, family, business, and willing pair of hands to take part in something bigger than any one of us: a citywide Day of Service.For one day, we’re setting aside our own to-do lists to take care of our shared spaces and each other, clearing litter, raking public spaces, and helping neighbors who’ve asked for a hand, so Lakewood heads into the colder months feeling a little more cared for.
What We’ll Be Doing
-Street and public space clean-up: clearing litter and debris from sidewalks, parks, tree lawns, and other shared spaces
-Matched yard help for neighbors who’ve requested it
-Sprucing up your own yard, if you’ve been putting it off
No task is too small.
How to Get Involved
Pitch In, No Registration Required
See a public space that could use some love? You don’t need to register to help. Grab a trash bag or rake and get started in shared public spaces around the city.
Keep in mind:
– Stick to public property: sidewalks, parks, tree lawns, medians, and other common areas
– Homes and private yards are off-limits here; private yard help happens through our matching program below
– Wear gloves, watch for traffic, and skip anything needing heavy equipment

Register to Be Matched
Want a specific place to go, or want to help a neighbor directly? Fill out our volunteer form and we’ll match you with a neighbor who’s requested help or a public space project.
Request Help for Yourself or Someone You Care For
If you could use a hand with yard work this fall, or you’re coordinating for a family member or neighbor with their knowledge, reach out to Megan Futo at [email protected]. LakewoodAlive will review requests and do our best to match you with volunteers. Submitting a request isn’t a guarantee of a match, but we’ll try our best.

This is a community organized day of service. The “Pitch In” option is a self-directed, volunteer activity and not a supervised LakewoodAlive event; participants take part at their own discretion and own risk.
