THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER: THE MUSICAL J.V. Get ready for a Christmas pageant unlike any other!
The Herdmans are the worst kids in the history of the world. They lie, they steal, they bully other kids, and they smoke smelly cigars. There used to be only one place where you’d never see them: church. But all that changes when Charlie Bradley brags that his Sunday school offers free snacks!
Suddenly, all six Herdman kids show up in search of pizza, cookies, and Hawaiian Punch, and somehow end up taking over the annual Christmas pageant!
Grace Bradley, Charlie’s mom and the pageant’s novice director, finds herself in quite a predicament when she not only casts the Herdmans but gives them all the leading roles. Much to the dismay of the other children, Grace must navigate the chaos of the Herdmans and the outrage of Helen Armstrong, who speaks for all the concerned citizens of the town. Now she has a choice: get rid of the Herdmans or let them stay and risk being blamed for the worst Christmas pageant in the history of the world!
Funny, sweet, and full of heart, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical J.V. is a wonderful story about community, compassion, acceptance, and discovering the true spirit of Christmas in the most unexpected places. We are excited to bring this production to the Lakeview stage and showcase the talents of our younger Masque performers!
A NOTE TO OUR AUDIENCE
Because of the story and its setting, this musical includes Christian and religious themes, references to the Bible and Jesus, the Nativity story, angels, shepherds, and traditional Christmas elements. Lakeview Masque selected this production for its humor, heartwarming message, and wonderful opportunities for our younger performers. We believe it is a story that celebrates community, compassion, and the spirit of Christmas.
Families and audience members are encouraged to be aware of these religious themes and references when deciding to attend.
