Find Clarity, Slow Down: Writing as Wayfinding with Michelle Tan
Her Wellness Club is delighted to invite playwright and theatre educator Michelle Tan to lead a session on writing as wayfinding — guiding participants through short writing exercises to slow down and reconnect.
In an age where efficiency and productivity reign as supreme values, the act of putting pen to paper can seem archaic and wholly unnecessary. Yet this is exactly why the practice is worth keeping — it carves out the space needed to slow the speed of thought, to find the right words, and to deepen our capacity for curiosity and connection.
There is no preparation needed beforehand, nor do you need to consider yourself a writer or artist in any way.
About Michelle Tan
A believer in challenging the limits of language and form, Michelle's writing blends lyricism with sharp edges, drawn from the disparate pieces that make up the daily business of living.
Her plays have been produced by several local companies, including Cake Theatrical Productions, Singapore Repertory Theatre, and the Esplanade. Her most recent work, The Radicalisation of Mrs Mary Lim-Rodrigues, was developed during her residency as Writer-in-Residence at Centre 42 and is currently running at Wild Rice from 24th September to 10th October 2026.
She also teaches in the theatre faculty at the School of the Arts, and continues to pursue her interests in the intersections of critical pedagogy, arts education, and the craft of performance-making.
