Laboratory Skills & Biotechnology Skills Bootcamp with Mammalian Cell Culture
This fully funded course is designed to help you build practical laboratory skills, develop your understanding of modern biotechnology and gain hands-on experience with techniques used across scientific research and industry.
Throughout the 10-day bootcamp, you’ll complete a wide range of practical laboratory activities covering key techniques including pipetting, solution preparation, microbiology, PCR, gel electrophoresis and Western blotting. You’ll learn both the theory behind these techniques and how they are applied in a real laboratory environment.
You’ll also be introduced to mammalian cell culture, including areas such as sterility and media preparation, cell resuscitation, counting and seeding, cell health and confluency, passaging and cryopreservation.
The bootcamp includes 60 guided learning hours delivered across 10 days, combining theory with practical laboratory training. The first day begins at 8:45am, with subsequent sessions running from 9:00am to 4:00pm, including a one-hour lunch break.
You’ll also take part in CV and careers workshops and student presentations, helping you build confidence not only in the laboratory but when preparing for your next career step.
This course is ideal for:
- Biology and life science graduates looking to develop practical laboratory experience
- Students preparing to enter scientific or laboratory-based careers
- Early-career scientists looking to strengthen their technical skills
- People from other academic backgrounds interested in moving into laboratory-based roles
- Laboratory technicians looking to expand or refresh their practical knowledge
- Professionals looking to build confidence with commonly used laboratory techniques
By the end of the bootcamp, you’ll have greater confidence using essential laboratory techniques, practical exposure to mammalian cell culture and a stronger understanding of how these skills are used within modern laboratory and biotechnology environments.
