About this Event
Kwento Across Waters is a literary open mic and performance showcase that uplifts writers, poets, and storytellers from the AANHPI (Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander) diaspora. This event highlights narratives that honor the richness and diversity of these cultures while creating space for authentic, lived experiences.
This month’s theme is TENDER REBELLIONS — What does it mean to rebel softly?
To choose yourself.
To rewrite the story.
To love differently.
To rest. To desire. To take up space.
To become someone your family, your culture, or even your younger self never imagined.
This month, Kwento Across Waters invites you to share your Tender Rebellions—the quiet acts of courage, defiance, healing, and becoming that have shaped you.
What expectation did you break?
What part of yourself did you reclaim?
Where did you choose softness when the world asked you to harden?
Come tell us your story.
Kwento Across Waters is curated and hosted by a local Filipina American writer, and is proudly presented in collaboration with Malaya Botanicals.
