Where will we start from: Spine Road SE26 4PU by the corner where the buses turn/near the Waterlink entrance. Please cancel your ticket in advance, if you are unable to attend.
The Route:
As the days get brighter and warmer, we welcome being in the outdoors for longer. From the curve of the bus terminus/Water link entrance. This route will take us along the Water link, and Riverview path, crossing Southend Lane by the new Traffic lights, towards Lower Sydenham Station and on to Kangley Bridge Road. We will coast along Pool View path towards Cator Park and scootle over the back of the station at Kent House station, walking our bikes through. We continue our ride over to Churchfields/Beck Lane entering South Norwood Country Park, from Elmers End Lane Road. We will head out of the park by car park entrance by Albert Rd SE25 towards Woodside/Shirley Road/Shirley Park and Lloyd Park. We might take a brief break here before we roll on to Selsdon Wood Nature Reserve, as we tackle the hill. We will appreciate the environment with all of what nature has to offer us, and we are grateful, embracing the earlier sunshine. We will snack on our munchies before we decide to retrace a bit of our strides, and push on to Monks Orchards, Beckenham Place Park and make our way back to Sydenham.
Who are we:
The ride is for adults only and we have a mixed ability within the group. We welcome new riders. On some of our rides, there is likely to be at least one hill, but we try to avoid them where possible. We will wait, if you can't make it all the way to the top without stopping and we are a supportive group. You can sign up for rides when they are published. However, if you wish to join Kweens and Kings Cycling Network, you will need to complete a registration form before you can be added to the WhatsApp group, and complete at least 6 rides over the course of the year to remain as a member.
If you click on 'follow' on this Ad, you will be notified of all future rides.
Who is the ride for:
We ride as a group of people, mainly from a African and African Caribbean background and as cyclists we ride together regularly, often with a structured schedule and we have varying levels of abilities.
We aim to start when the weather is improving this could be as early as January or February. But sometimes it could be as late as March/April, with easier local rides to start the year off, and we increase the distance and go further afield, until November or December (if we are really lucky), and we have been riding together since November 2020.
What should you bring:
Your bike and helmet, appropriate attire for riding and weather conditions, and a smile.
We ride as a group, but please cycle carefully, and abide by the rules of the road. Your safety will be at your own discretion.
Please come prepared with inflatable tyre and/or pump.
Light fruits/snacks and water according to your preference. A travel card/cash.
