🔬 Idén is várunk minden érdeklődőt a Kutatók Éjszakáján!
Műtét a múltban | Surgery in the past
2026.09.25. 16:00 – 20:00

Mesterséges intelligencia a látogatói élmény szolgálatában
Hogyan zajlottak a műtéti beavatkozások a középkorban és a kora újkorban? Most VR-szemüveg és haptikus kesztyű segítségével testközelből ismerheted meg a korabeli orvoslás világát.
A mesterséges intelligencia és a modern technológia segítségével egy különleges időutazás részese lehetsz, ahol a múlt műtéti eljárásai interaktív formában elevenednek meg.
Próbáld ki, milyen lehetett a műtétek világa a modern orvostudomány előtt!
A program a SHIFT (Horizon Europe) konzorcium 2022-2025 működése során jött létre(https://shift-europe.eu). A konzorcium számos európai ország közgyűjteményét, egyetemi informatikai intézetét és informatikai vállalkozását fogta össze, köztük a MNM KK Semmelweis Orvostörténeti Múzeumot.
Artificial intelligence at the service of the visitor experience
How were surgical interventions carried out in the Middle Ages and the early modern period? Now you can get to understand some pieces of the world of mediaeval medicine with the help of VR glasses and haptic gloves.
With the help of artificial intelligence and modern technology, you can be part of a special time travel, where surgical procedures of the past come to life in an interactive form.
Try out what the world of surgery was like before modern medicine!
The program was created during the operation of the SHIFT (Horizon Europe) consortium in 2022-2025 (https://shift-europe.eu). The consortium brought together public collections, university IT institutes and IT companies from several European countries, including the HNM PCC Semmelweis Museum History of Medicine. The goal of the program was to produce AI-generated content to enhance the museum visitor experience, including for people with disabilities.
"The VR content was developed by the SHIFT (Horizon Europe) Project consortium with funding from the European Union. The views and opinions expressed in the content reflect the sole views of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the European Union or the European Research Executive Agency (REA)."
Koponyatorzítás a hun korban | Cranial distortion in the Hunnic era

Azonban a koponyaűr drasztikus átalakítása agyi tevékenységeket is befolyásolhat.
In the first half of 2026 the temporary exhibition of the Hungarian National Museum, entitled Attila, presented the history of the European Hunnic Empire and the 1600-year memory of King Attila in European and Hungarian thought. The curator-in-chief of the exhibition was Benedek Varga, Director General of the Semmelweis Museum. This gives the occasion for the program: a connection of medical history, anthropology and paleoneurology.
In the Hunnic Empire, childhood cranial, or skull distortion was typical among the Hunnic and Germanic elite and sometimes in the case of the common people. This resulted in elongated skulls. The cultural reason for the distortion certainly expressed belonging to the Hunnic Empire and loyalty to the Huns. At the same time, written sources about the Huns, starting with Ammianus Marcellinus (c. 330 -395/400), when describing the Huns, mention their peculiar appearance, as well as their unpredictability and ferocity. This may be a traditional literary topos, with which the Romans, or more broadly speaking the representatives of the Mediterranean culture, attributed to nomadic warriors. However, the drastic transformation of the cranial cavity may also affect brain activities. The question is how much the morphology of the cranial cavity did chang as a result of the distortion? Could the distortion have influenced the development of the brain? Can the distortion change cognitive abilities and significantly influence behaviour?
We examine the topic from the perspective of several scientific fields: from the perspective of biological anthropology, human evolution, paleoneurology and neuroscience.
The presentations will be in English. Each lecture is approximately 20 minutes long.
We regret that simultaneous interpretation can not be provided.
