School is back in session and so are KSDS Jazz Studio Sessions at San Diego City College. This fall, the Studio Sessions concert series brings you Southern California's best emerging jazz artists every first Thursday of the month live from the state-of-the-art Recording Studio at City College (14th Street & C Street, East Village, San Diego). Listeners have three ways of catching the music: Tune in to KSDS Jazz 88.3 FM, stream on YouTube, or watch up close in the studio. Tickets for VIP seating in the studio are priced at $30, available via Eventbrite. VIP Tickets include free goodies from KSDS and City College plus an exclusive tour of the KSDS 88.3 FM radio station after the show.
On Thursday, October 1, Studio Sessions presents the Sean Hicke Trio featuring Sean Hicke (bass), Zo Shah (guitar), and Julien Cantelm (drums).
About Sean Hicke
Sean Hicke is a San Diego-based upright bassist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist.
He grew up playing electric bass and woodwinds in rock bands, concert bands, and church choirs before discovering his passion for improvised music. He made the leap to upright bass while studying jazz at San Diego State University, and has established himself as one of the most in-demand bassists on the San Diego scene, frequently appearing at Lou Lou's, The Jazz Lounge, and other venues across the region. He has recorded with Hether, Leonard Patton, Justin Joyce, and Zo Shah.
Sean's debut album, Sunflower Sutra, features Louis Valenzuela, Matt DiBiase, and Julien Cantelm and was nominated for Best Jazz Album at the San Diego Music Awards.

The KSDS Jazz Studio Sessions at City College is produced by the students in the San Diego City College Commercial Music Program. Student and faculty teams lead the recording, streaming, and event production, offering real-world experience in a high-caliber live-studio environment. This series continues the college’s mission to merge education, performance, and community outreach through live music.
