Læs om koret:
This is the 32nd year of the Melbourne Women’s Choir, Victoria, Australia. The choir sings an annual concert series of four concerts, and it participates in a variety of other musical events. It has sung with the Melbourne, Sydney and Stonnington symphony orchestras, has been the host choir for ten national Voices of Women festivals and, with the Melbourne Chamber Choir, has hosted nineteen Victorian state choral festivals now titled Choral@Melbourne. It yearly shares a Carol Evening with the Nuns of the Carmelite Monastery in Kew, Melbourne. It has made three CD’s – Virtuoso Women – music of the orphanages of Venice; My Song in the Night – sacred and secular choral classics; And the Angels Sing – featuring A Ceremony of Carols of Britten.
MWC has previously toured to Europe – in 2016 singing in Greenwich, Cambridge, Paris, Geneva and Venice; in 2019 singing in Vienna, Prague, Munich and Venice. It has shared concerts in Melbourne with Gwent Male Choir (Wales), Adelaide Male Choir, Kanazawa Women’s Choir (Japan), Cecilian Singers (NZ), Luminata (NZ) and Women of Note (Bendigo).
As with all choirs, the Melbourne Women’s Choir has a store of memories of events. It has sung footy songs on the TV Football Show; in the Classical Spectacular with the Melbourne Symphony on Rod Laver (tennis) arena, has donned habits to sing a Sister Act gig; has backed music for a film and a video game; has sung carols in two Christmas in July events (when there is snow on the Australian alps); and has sung carols for several days in the Qantas departure lounges of Melbourne Airport.
The choir is conducted by Sharon Batterham and Faye Dumont.
The Melbourne Women’s Choir is delighted, on this tour, to be sharing music with friends in Copenhagen, Lund, Orebro, Stockholm, Riga and Dublin and it thanks you for your support and attendance.
