Experiencing prairie fire processes through an immersive art installation of sound and fire immersing into the underground.
Heard Above, Seen Below is an immersive art installation which gives the audience an opportunity to experience the effects of prairie fire processes. This project is the outcome of an ongoing collaboration between MFA student in Sculpture, Indigo Conat-Naar, and PhD student in soil science, Mengmeng Luo, made possible through the Kohler Fellows program at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery.
The exhibit will be up in Gallery 7 (Rm 7240) in the Mosse Humanities Building from September 29th until October 3rd. On Wednesday, September 30th, at 3:30pm, join Luo and Conat-Naar for the Soil Seminar on the making of the piece in the Memorial Union (Festival Room), after which the seminar will move over to the Humanities Building for the gallery reception from 4 to 6pm.
