About this Event
Join us for an engaging and informative Seizure Recognition & First Aid Workshop featuring Janna Moore, Executive Director of the Epilepsy Society Network of Orange County.
This interactive session will provide a foundational understanding of epilepsy and seizures, including how seizures affect the brain, common seizure types, and how to respond safely and effectively when someone experiences a seizure. Participants will learn how to recognize when a seizure begins and ends, keep individuals safe during a seizure, and determine when emergency medical intervention is necessary.
The workshop will also explore the important connection between epilepsy and mental health, including commonly diagnosed co-occurring mental health conditions and the impact they can have on an individual's well-being, treatment, and quality of life. Understanding these challenges can help caregivers, professionals, and community members provide more informed and compassionate support.
This training is especially valuable for school staff, caregivers, healthcare professionals, public employees, and anyone who may interact with someone living with epilepsy or a seizure disorder, though all community members are welcome. Whether you're looking to build confidence in an emergency situation or deepen your understanding of epilepsy's broader impact, this workshop will provide practical, life-saving knowledge that you can use in everyday settings.
