KNOT & FETCH: Dog Toy Making Social in Minneapolis!
Knot & Fetch is a relaxed Saturday craft social for dog people who enjoy making useful things by hand.
Instead of another generic pet meetup, attendees sit down at shared maker tables and build one handmade fleece tug toy.
- No sewing experience required.
- No glue guns.
- No stuffing.
- No squeakers.
- No loose decorative pieces.
- No dogs moving around craft tables.
The workshop combines:
Simple making useful take - home object dog-parent conversation reusable DIY pattern
TIMELINE:
1:45–2:00 PM — Check-In + Kit Setup
Guests check in, find their maker table, receive their pre-staged fleece kit, confirm their pattern choice, and make limited color swaps if needed.
2:00–2:08 PM — Welcome + Safe Toy Basics
A short introduction to the two toy patterns, clamp use, braiding technique, and supervised-play safety.
2:08–2:23 PM — Build Step 1: Measure + Anchor
Guests align the fleece strips, create the starting knot, secure the project with a padded clamp, and check the starting tension.
2:23–2:50 PM — Build Step 2: Braid + Structure
Main hands-on build period. Guests braid their Classic Long Tug or Loop Tug while staff provide technical support.
2:50–3:00 PM — Working Reset
Pause to check tension, correct loose sections, adjust length, and rest hands before finishing.
3:00–3:22 PM — Build Step 3: Finish + Inspect
Guests complete the final knots, remove the toy from the clamp, trim where needed, and review the safety checklist.
3:22–3:37 PM — Dog Parent Social + Photo Table
Informal social time, finished-toy photos, dog-photo sharing, and conversation with other local dog parents.
3:37–3:43 PM — Make It Again
Quick review of the take-home digital pattern, fleece sourcing, toy care, and supervised-play guidance.
3:43–3:45 PM — Close
