Join us at The Alcove for a knitting workshop. We’ll teach basic knitting skills like how to handle the sewing. People will love the different kinds of ways they can learn and make their own creations!
Workshops are recommended for people ages 16 and over. Children under 16 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).
The workshop is admission by donation! Suggested $20 - $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
Tigist Shimeles: I was born in Ethiopia. When I was in school, we learned about knitting. I can make sweaters, socks, and hats. Now, I’m here to teach people how to knit!

Alcove Centre for the Arts (alcoveartscentre.ca) is a charity based in Calgary, AB which aims to make art more accessible and promote a vibrant local arts industry. We curate and cultivate community art spaces for Calgarians to engage in art and creativity while building a platform for emerging local artists. Alcove Centre for the Arts has two locations: Alcove Core and Alcove Beltline.
Alcove Core (244 7 Ave SW) is a Recreational Art Space open to the public providing free art supplies and instruments to stimulate creativity. The space also acts as a gathering place for workshops, community events, and social meetups. Come visit and get creative!
Alcove Beltline (1040 8 St SW) is a multi-use, flexible venue that is available to book for private or public events. If you are looking for an affordable space that has equipment rentals available, in a central location, for 75-100 people at a time, then this space may be a great fit for you!
