Pull up a chair and join the conversation.Open Book: Kin-dom Conversations is Oak Lawn UMC’s weekly gathering for thoughtful reading, honest conversation, and connection as we explore faith, justice, spirituality, and the world around us. Whether you’re a lifelong reader or simply looking for meaningful conversation and a welcoming group of people, there’s a place for you.
Beginning Wednesday, September 16, we’re reading Resist: How a Century of Young Black Activists Shaped America by Rita Omokha.
Through the stories of young Black activists across generations, Resist invites us to explore courage, resilience, hope, and the ways ordinary people have helped create extraordinary change. Together, we’ll consider these stories through the lens of our own lives and faith, asking what faithful resistance and courageous hope might look like in our time.
You don’t need to be a scholar, and you don’t need to have all the answers. Come with your questions, your curiosity, and an open heart. We’ll read deeply, listen well, and learn from one another.
Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.
