About the show:
Started in 2001 by Ms. Joy Purnell, this step show has been a staple in the Centex community, allowing high school students the opportunity to carry on the age-old tradition of stepping (a type of dance rooted in the history of African and African American people, more recently popularized by the African American Greek community). Students prepare these performances for months and their hard work is very evident from the moment they step foot on the stage. Let it be known, these steppers really K*ll it out there.
Additional to the high school competition, in the past this event has also incorporated younger steppers, dance troupes, singers, and even the occasional college Greek step team.
It was Joy Purnell's dream to provide a positive space for students to excel, have fun and appreciate their history. This step show is that space. Come out and support!
