Volunteers from around the Mid-Texas Area will gather to kick off collection season—with a goal of packing more than 7293 shoeboxes with fun toys, school supplies and personal care items. For 20 years, Mid-Texas Area residents have been a part of Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse that shares the true meaning of Christmas with children in need around the world. Each shoebox gift is an opportunity to share the love of Jesus with children in need. These gift-filled shoeboxes will contribute to the project’s global goal of reaching more than 12.8 million children in Jesus’ Name.
The Mid-TX West Area Operation Christmas Child Team will host a kick-off event on Saturday, September 26th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Covenant Life Church located at 4001 E Elms Road in Killeen, 76542. Volunteers hope to encourage and equip individuals, families, groups and churches to plan and prepare for the national shoebox gift collections during the National Collection Week. Special guest, Cathy Scribner will share about her vision trip to Trinidad. Scribner had a rare, firsthand opportunity to deliver shoebox gifts alongside the local ministry partners in Trinidad and share the love of Jesus Christ to children in need. Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan's Purse, seeks to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world and, together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
