Kenwood House Easter Trail is a free family activity set in one of North London's most beautiful settings. Kenwood (English Heritage) is a stunning neoclassical mansion on the northern edge of Hampstead Heath, home to a world-class art collection including works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Turner.During the Easter holidays, a family trail runs through the landscape grounds and parkland — spotting clues, solving puzzles, and discovering the estate's history. Entry to both Kenwood House and the grounds is free (English Heritage members and non-members alike).
The surrounding Hampstead Heath makes this a perfect full-day outing: morning trail at Kenwood, afternoon walk across the Heath, views across London from Parliament Hill. The lakeside landscape garden is especially beautiful in early April with spring blossom.
Getting there: Gospel Oak or Hampstead Heath overground stations (15-min walk), or buses C11, 214. Free parking on-site (limited).
Tips: pick up a trail sheet from the entrance before exploring. The orangery café is excellent for post-trail lunch — book a table or arrive early.
FAQs: Is the trail free? Yes — Kenwood House and all grounds are free to enter. Do I need to book? No booking required for the trail. Is it pushchair accessible? The main paths are accessible; some lawn areas may be uneven. How long is the trail? Approximately 45–60 minutes at a relaxed pace. Can I walk onto Hampstead Heath from Kenwood?
