Kenneth will teach three workshops from 1-4:30 PM at the Lowdown Ballroom, exploring different facets of Blues dance, including:

🎶 Texas Shuffle, a style Kenneth is especially known for

Meet Kenneth
Kenneth “Commander” Shipp started learning the family of Blues dances in his hometown of Nashville and has been hooked ever since. In each class and social dance, he shares his love and understanding of these dances alongside his connection to Black eldership and other Black dances, including Breakdancing, all woven together with a deep affinity for nerdy references.
As the Blues elders say, “This is just dancing,” and Kenneth brings that philosophy into his teaching to help dancers achieve their Blues goals. He might even affectionately remind you to “Chill the F#$k out” along the way.
When he’s not teaching, Kenneth can be found in Saint Louis helping build the Blues scene, serving as director of Ujima Blues Foundation, or discussing movies and nerdy topics through Nerd Union.
