Former Triangle resident, now long-time Alaskan, Ken Waldman has toured full-time since 1995, often as Alaska's Fiddling Poet, combining old-time Appalachian string-band music with smart original poetry, and Alaska-set storytelling. 12 CDs, 25 books, and he's played gigs from the Kennedy Center Millennium State to the Dodge Poetry Festival, to the Woodford Folk Festival (Queensland, Australia). Ken Waldman has been compared to John Hartford, Garrison Keillor, Ken Burns, and even Mr. Fred Rogers. The Denver Post has called his shows "Renegade Americana." The Austin Chronicle says, "Always recommended."
Colin Cutler is a Greensboro, North Carolina-based singer-songwriter, folk musician, poet, and storyteller toting a banjo and guitar. Whether solo or with his band, Hot Pepper Jam, he is a wide-ranging performer whose musical roots draw from the breadth of American folk music—from Appalachian oldtime to blues to gospel to country to rock’n’roll—to form what No Depression has described as “one magnificent tapestry of roots music.” Past appearances include Merlefest, Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival, the North Carolina Folk Festival, and venues in the UK, Ireland, and Romania. www.colincutlermusic.com
