About this Event
Keith Fraser grew up in Bournville attending Bournville Primary School. He became a highly experienced senior leader across policing, local government, devolved administrations and UK Government.
He chaired the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales and served as a Senior Independent Panel Member for the Cabinet Office.
Keith brings extensive experience advising Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and senior leaders through roles on the Criminal Justice Board and NHS England’s ADHD Taskforce. His leadership in West Midlands Police and local authorities demonstrates his ability to drive change. He is recognised for his commitment to transparent, people‑centred improvement.
Keith will touch on his career as a police officer and his contacts with children who committed crimes and how that shaped his thinking today. He will then explore what communities know about who's committing offences and what police know.
Then he will talk about the reality, exploring our response as a nation to the riots of two years ago, where children were over-represented and about solutions to child-related crime in general.
He will challenge the narrative around ‘hard’ or ‘soft’ on crime and the quick-fix approaches to tackling children and young people who are involved in the criminal justice system.
Keith encourages people to get behind the headlines challenging quick-fix narratives to support sustainable solutions for more cohesive communities.
