Join us and the Kansas City community as we celebrate National White Cane Safety Day, on October 15th and raise awareness about the independence, mobility, and accomplishments of individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
KC White Cane Day 2026 will bring together community members, families, advocates, and supporters for a morning of awareness, connection, and celebration throughout the heart of Kansas City. Participants will experience a guided route utilizing the free KC Streetcar system while learning about the significance of the white cane and its role in promoting independence and accessibility.

Registration: 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Location: Grand Street Café
4740 Grand Avenue

During registration, participants will:
Check in for the event
Be paired into small groups with a route guide
Pick up pre-ordered KC White Cane Day t-shirts
Purchase limited quantities of event t-shirts available on-site
White Cane Day Awareness Route
Beginning at Grand Street Café, participants will travel in small groups through Kansas City's downtown corridor using the KC Streetcar.
The route includes:
Riding the KC Streetcar north from Plaza Station to Union Station
A commemorative group photo opportunity at Union Station
Traveling south on the KC Streetcar back to Plaza Station
Walking to Mill Creek Memorial Fountain for a special gathering featuring:
The National Anthem
National White Cane Safety Day Proclamation
Large group photo
Returning to Grand Street Café for a social gathering and community networking opportunity
KC Streetcars are FREE and run approximately every 10 minutes, allowing groups to move comfortably along the route while showcasing accessibility within our community.
