About this Event

When Someone You Love Dies, What Does Love Look Like?

Author Katie Rizzo will be launching her debut novel, The Trimesters of Grief, written after the loss of her son to addiction. Pathfinder’s own Allison Daily (Out of the Canyon: A True Story of Loss and Love) will start the discussion on poetry, journaling, and the power of connection. Proceeds from sales of Rizzo's books will go directly to Pathfinders.

Katie Rizzo is a fiction writer whose short stories have appeared in literary journals including Prosetrics, The Literary Magazine (January 2026), as well as in anthologies such as the HG Wells Short Story Competition (2023). She earned juried placements at the Aspen Words Conference in 2023 and 2025.

Trained in biology and psychology, Rizzo earned a master’s degree from Yale University and completed MSII at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine. She taught at her local public high school for over fifteen years and lives in Arizona with her husband and their two dogs.

Allison Daily is the Director of Pathfinders in Aspen, Colorado, and holds a Master’s degree in Spiritual Psychology from University of Santa Monica in California.

Her passion is working with grief and loss clients and finding ways for them to not only process all that they are feeling, but also feel closer to the one they loved and lost.

Allison believes that if the pain and sadness can be a part of the honoring and remembrance, then healing has begun.

She has a very personal understanding of loss as she lost her dear husband, Art, in December of 2020, as well as her brother to suicide in 1990. Allison lives in Aspen and has two boys, Rider and Burke.
