𝐊!𝐀𝐑𝐓: 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬
A performance situation could be many things. In a concert, we are usually met with the situation of musicians performing sounds on their instruments. In theatre, we might encounter a very specific dramatic situation - for example, a woman buried up to her waist in dirt who nonetheless continues attempting to go about her daily life. The situation is what emerges from an unspoken central logic or ruleset that everything else follows from.
K!ART presents a selection of François Sarhan’s Situations: short works for one to three performers and minimal props, each built around simple but volatile conditions. These are paired with complementary works by other composers that introduce instruments and technology, generating their own sonic and behavioural consequences.
Featuring mimicry, hocketing, ventriloquism and the outsourcing of control, this programme unfolds as a chain of performance situations that reveal how constraint produces sound, tension and unexpected forms of coordination and communication.

The ensemble is characterized by an exploratory and holistic approach to curation and presents intermedial music events ranging from experimental instrumental music to music-theatre, multimedia-, and performance art works.
