Coming up in a couple weeks at Canessa Gallery we'll have an experimental book making workshop by Karl Larsson from Gothenburg, Sweden and then performances and collaborations by Karl and local sound artists Kaitlin McSweeney, Petra Zelie and Bryan Day.PUUT-Library / A Book in a Day Workshop / Karl Larsson
PUUT-Library is an artist’s book library created by Karl Larsson, featuring a collection of 200 handmade titles, including books and CDrs. Rather than purchasing the works, visitors can become members of the library and borrow titles on long-term loan.
When PUUT-Library visits a new location, its usual library activities: browsing, lending, returns, and new memberships, are accompanied by live performances. For this visit to Canessa Gallery, PUUT is pleased to present performances by Bryan Day, Kaitlin McSweeney, Petra Zelie, and Karl Larsson.
4:15–6:15 PM: A Book in a Day Workshop
The afternoon begins with A Book in a Day, a collaborative workshop in which participants work together to create an artists’ book in a single session. Participation is limited to 12 people, and each participant will receive a copy of the finished book. One copy will also become part of the PUUT-Library collection.
6:15-9:15 Performances
Bryan Day, Kaitlin McSweeney, Petra Zelie, and Karl Larsson will be playing short solo sets and collaborations.
The Library
Throughout the event, the PUUT-Library collection will be open for visitors to browse, handle, and read. Visitors are also invited to become library members and borrow works from the collection.
