About this Event
For 35 years, the lakeside of Prospect Park has been home to a living act of remembrance. Lakou Gran Bwa has gathered the Haitian community in Brooklyn each year to honor Bwa Kayiman, the 1791 ceremony that sparked the Haitian Revolution. Dòmi. Leve. Jwenn. (Sleep. Wake. Find.) celebrates that legacy through an archival exhibition featuring the original works of Deenps "Gran Bwa" Bazile, now extended through November 1 due to popular demand.
Join Bazile and Kafou Gallery founder Stephanie Pierre for a panel discussion on the history behind the work, what it means to carry a sacred ancestral tradition into a Brooklyn park, and how a community keeps its story alive across generations.
Whether you've stood at the lakeside for Bwa Kayiman or are encountering the tradition for the first time, this is a rare chance to hear directly from the artist, ask questions, and experience the exhibition together.
