This October, Te Whare Taonga o Te Awamutu Museum invites you to explore some of Waipā's most significant historical landscapes through AKE, AKE, AKE: Remembering Through Place, Story, Film and Community. Running from 21-24 October 2026, the programme offers a series of free public events leading into Rā Maumahara, the National Day of Remembrance for the New Zealand Wars. As part of the programme, the Regent Theatre Te Awamutu will host a free screening of Ka Whawhai Tonu Mātou: Struggle Without End, an Aotearoa New Zealand historical drama set during the New Zealand Wars in 1864, focused on Ōrākau and told largely through te reo Māori with English subtitles.
Rated M, suitable for mature audiences 16+.
