Share a story. Find a gift. Enjoy a little holiday coziness.Join KC Book Beat at The Story Loft for an evening inspired by Jólabókaflóð, Iceland’s Christmas book flood. We’re bringing together a wrapped book exchange, time to enjoy a good read, and a small holiday market.
Browse gifts, support local businesses, and discover a story chosen by another reader. Whether you’re finishing your holiday shopping or making time for yourself during a busy season, come spend a cozy evening with us.
Join the book exchange
Bring one new or gently used book you’d love someone else to discover, wrapped and ready for its next reader. Write the genre and a few spoiler-free clues on the outside. Inside, tuck a short note sharing why you chose it, what it meant to you, or what you hope its next reader will enjoy.
If you forget to wrap it, don't worry. We will have a wrapping station.
Choose a wrapped book in return and discover the story and personal message waiting inside. Then settle in to read, trade recommendations, or explore the market.
Wear your favorite cozy layers and bring a friend or come on your own. The book exchange is optional, so you’re welcome to shop, bring your current read, and enjoy the gathering.
A $3 suggested donation at the door benefits Midwest Book Beat and supports our work in the literary community.
