Wow…we are excited to announce that Justin Aulis Long, sonic sorcerer hailing from Chicago, will be coming to OKC on November 14th to play The Pet Shop! How to introduce Justin? He is a long-time Smart Bar resident (he’s been DJing there for 30+ years!!), his current party being Flowers of Romance. Eris Drew often cites him as helping her refine her pitch-mixing technique years ago. He’s all over the world, DJing festivals like Draaimolen, The Great Beyond (many Okies were at that set!), System Activate and parties like DVS1’s Wall of Sound to name a few. Trust me when we say that this will be a very, very special night.I’ve been thinking about this line I read recently in Harry Mulisch’s The Discovery of Heaven: “making music was not about expressing emotions but about evoking them”. Mr. Mulisch obviously has not seen Justin Aulis Long at the controls. Justin defies this idea. He is an electrified conduit for pure ecstatic energy, blending techno, house, all things jack, acid, new beat, industrial, electro…he purveys music in a way that feels like lore of yesterday, in a way that can almost make you feel nostalgic for the 90s, regardless if you raved through them or not. But then you snap out of your senseless mourning when you’re slapped with the energy of the present moment while Justin’s in the mix.
