People with DD are overrepresented in the criminal justice system. Learn how Cuyahoga DD's forensic team uses research, best practices, and real case studies to address vulnerabilities and improve outcomes.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Residential and Day-Service Providers, County Board Staff, SSAs, Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), Self-Advocates, Families, Supervisors, Behavioral Health Professionals, Justice-System Partners, and Others Seeking to Understand Justice-System Supports.

- Use assessments and recommendations in service planning and ISP development.

MEET YOUR TRAINERS
Missy Kuhn, LISW-S, Behavioral Health Supervisor, Cuyahoga DD: Missy is a Licensed Independent Social Worker, LISW-S, and currently works as a Behavioral Health Supervisor for Cuyahoga DD. Missy has worked at Cuyahoga DD for 10+ years and within her current role supervises the forensic team. Missy graduated with her Master’s degree in social service administration (MSSA) from Case Western Reserve University in 2005 and has been practicing for 20+ years in the field of social work.
Amanda Kafcsak, Forensic Liaison, Cuyahoga DD: Amanda graduated with her Masters in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati and has worked in the field for the past 14+ years. Amanda’s professional experience includes forensic team lead and parole officer before joining Cuyahoga DD as a forensic liaison in 2018. Amanda is a passionate advocate for those she supports and has significant training experience on the topic. Amanda continues to train CIT officers and is a trainer and committee member for the Criminal Justice Coordinating Center of Excellence, Northeast Ohio Medical University.
APPROVED FOR 3 CPDU HOURS THROUGH THE Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities for the following positions: County Board Member, Investigative Agent, Service Support Administration, and Superintendent.
Approved for 1.0 Continuing Education Hour for Ohio Counselors and Social Workers

OHIO PROVIDER ANNUAL TRAINING ALIGNMENT
May be used toward 3 hours of agency-arranged annual DSP training in Components of Quality Care: implementing ISPs and person-centered support. Applies when relevant to services provided and people served.
This training does not replace the 2 hours of annual DODD-required training that must be completed using department-provided curriculum.
