THE JIST If you've been to a Blues dance around Denver, you've almost certainly seen Vartan at his favorite pass time of doing dramatic, musical dips all throughout a song - not just at the end. We counted one time, and we're pretty sure his record for number of dips done in a song is ~37.
According to Vartan, the first 4 rules of dips are:
> Stay Close
> Go Slow
> Don't get/give a concussion
> Have Fun
Dancers often avoid dips because they haven't learned how to execute them, don't know how to make them fit with the music, or are afraid they or their partner will end up on the floor. At Just the DIP!, Vartan and his dipping partner-in-crime, Miranda, will be teaching safe technique, working dips into a song musically, and the tools for coming up with your own creative dips for your social dancing.
While focused on Blues dancing, the skills in this workshop will also cross over well into other partnered dance styles like Lindy Hop, Balboa, or Fusion.
