The sun always sets in the West…
A tribute and thank you to the themes and culture that has meant so much to John Marshall Stubbs, this exhibition aims to embark on a new journey within the highly celebrated collections of JM Stubbs.
Many people know the collection that put him on the map, Quicker than my Shadow, but after the concluding series of that collection sold out on the opening night of his last exhibition, he left his collectors and the entire art world wondering what was coming next.
The Bedrock series is here to relay the fibers of art making, while still keeping fossilized the core energy, color, grit, and deep narratives of western culture. Stubbs wants to use this collection as a "Thank You" to each of the teachers, friends, family, mentors, collectors, and symbols that inspired him to pick up the brush in the first place.
Stubbs has stayed true to his ethos of only releasing an extremely limited amount of paintings a year, and this exhibition is an incredibly unique opportunity to see the collection in person as a whole, and to meet the artist himself.
