A fast-paced class covering handgun safety, basic operations, marksmanship, and maintenance, but focusing on issues of concern to women.
About this Event

Our Just for Women – Handgun Training Class is based upon the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course, but enhanced to address topics and concerns raised by women. It is an Instructor-led class designed to familiarize attendees with handgun operations and safety. Basic areas of focus include handgun components and actions, proper loading and handling, correct aiming technique, major differences in ammunition, cleaning and storage, an overview of different types of shooting sports, and much more. Additional focus includes such issues as enhanced security at home, becoming more comfortable handling firearms, lethal and non-lethal response to threats, using firearms as a “force multiplier”, proper firearm selection, debunking misperceptions and myths, and building confidence and skills at the range. Students learn in a non-competitive, non-threatening environment, and are exposed to an array of modern handguns and accessories.

Additional areas discussed include effective self-protection, handgun selection, storage systems, ensuring safety in the home, examining popular firearms myths, concealed carry methods, handgun apparel for women, and lethal and non-lethal responses.

This course is approx. 8-hrs of classroom presentation, plus up to 2-hr qualification session at a local gun range. Strict firearms safety protocols will be observed at all times.
