Jungle Flower Dragon Heart
This is an intimate, storytelling experience for those who are walking the long arc of healing.
In 2019, I left Toronto on a one-way ticket to Southeast Asia. I stayed there for ten months, writing about the psychologically abusive relationship I'd experienced thirteen years prior. My story had never been spoken fully, to others or myself, and those thirteen years after my escape saw continued harassment from the abuser.
While moving through jungles, coastlines, and ancient cities, I wrote. Post by post I shared my story on Instagram, while the abuser watched, uninvited. Through sharing my truth in this way, and the incredible support of my online community, something profound happened: the abuser finally left me alone, for good.
I turned these Instagram posts into a one-woman show woven with major lessons, spoken word poetry and the self portraits I'd taken on this journey through the stunning landscapes of Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Upon my return to Toronto that same year, the show opened to a sold-out audience and went on to be presented at schools across Turtle Island (Brown University, Queen's University, Dalhousie University, Seneca College, University of Toronto, Toronto Metropolitan University, Trent University, University of Waterloo, Western University, and San Diego State University).
Jungle Flower Dragon Heart highlights the major lessons I've learned on my healing journey and now, I am offering this experience in a much more intimate way. Hosted in my wellness studio, this is a living-room style session: smaller scale, up close and personal.
