This year I turn 50. Instead of celebrating with presents and a party, I've chosen to celebrate something far more important – life. Five years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. At 45, after finding a small lump, I sat alone in a hospital consultation room during Covid and heard the words no one ever wants to hear: 'I'm pretty sure it's cancer.'Thankfully, I am one of the lucky ones. I get to celebrate my 50th birthday, watch my boys become incredible young men and enjoy the moments cancer nearly stole from me.
That is why I'm organising Julie's Boobie Ball in aid of Breast Cancer Now. Every raffle prize, auction item and sponsorship helps fund life-saving research and support for families facing the same terrifying journey.
