Julie Derrick’s journey in music began at home, harmonizing with her sisters and singing alongside her mom. At just five years old, she picked up the flute, studying classical repertoire that laid the foundation for her lifelong relationship with music. That early training grew into a deep love for both voice and performance, which she carried with her to the University of Virginia, where she sang a cappella and earned a degree in music.
After college, Julie found herself immersed in the world of music and entertainment—working in the industry in artist and celebrity development while carving out her own space as a performer. She played in folk clubs and songwriter circles around San Francisco and Los Angeles, honing her craft and finding her voice in the lineage of 70s folk icons while blending in the sparkle of today’s contemporary pop. Armed with her acoustic guitar, she developed a style that is as heartfelt as it is timeless, rooted in storytelling and alive with melody.
Now based in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Julie performs regularly across Delaware and Maryland while traveling to festivals and songwriter gatherings throughout the U.S. Her shows are infused with her vibrant, optimistic outlook on life and a contagious sense of connection—bringing audiences into the moment through music, laughter, and shared experience.
Julie’s debut album, Feeling My Feelings, introduced listeners to her honest and soulful songwriting. She has since released the single Love Me More and is currently at work on her second album, expanding her sound and continuing to grow as an artist. For Julie, the heart of music is about connection—meeting new people, creating shared moments, and weaving together stories that resonate long after the final chord.
