In search of the book they needed as new moms, Rebecca Knight and Julie Buntin invited sixty-five acclaimed writers and artists to contribute to a bedside table companion for the first year of motherhood and beyond. This collection of short reflections and musings (perfectly digestible in the brief time-grabs interepersed throughout the days and nights of new parenthood) honors the transformational experience of becoming a mother, in all of its uncertainty, struggle, and joy.
Julie Buntin's debut novel Marlena was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle’s John Leonard Prize and longlisted for the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize. Her new novel Famous Men is out now from Random House.
Rebecca Knight is the author of the novels Hex and The Sunlit Night as well as the bilingual English-Norwegian collection of poems Lofoten.
Sarah Blakley-Cartwright is the author of Alice Sadie Celine and Red Riding Hood, a #1 New York Times bestseller. Her newest novel Heavy Cream is out now from Simon and Schuster.
