Artist Bio
Austrian flautist Julia Klampfer started learning the flute at age 8 and received flute lessons at the University Mozarteum Salzburg Pre College with Priv.-Doz. Britta Bauer since 2015, before continuing her Bachelor studies in flute performance and instrumental educations at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Univ.-Prof. Walter Auer. She graduated from both programs with distinction. Since September 2025, she has continued her Master of Performance studies at the Royal College of Music London on a full scholarship, studying with Sue Thomas, Emer McDonough, and Gitte Marcusson.
She has further enriched her education through numerous masterclasses, for example with Denis Bouriakov, Karin Bonelli, Andrea Oliva and Adam Walker. She has had mulitple solo performances with various Salzburg orchestras, including the Schloss Mirabel orchestra, the Bella Musica Orchestra of university Mozarteum, and the Symphony Orchestra Bad Ischl. She has won several first prizes at youth competitions and has also received awards at international competitions, including two prizes at the flute competition of the German flute association (2019 and 2023). Furthermore, she has won the scholarship oft he Yamaha Europe Foundation UK in 2026.
Julia performed for several years as principal flute with the Vienna Jeunesse Orchestra (Austrian National Youth Orchestra) and has regularly played as a substitute with the Volksoper (comic opera) Vienna and the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck. During her studies in London, she also performs regularly with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Alongside her solo and orchestral activities, she is also an enthusiastic chamber musician in modern and historical performance ensembles.
