The Saint Paul Chancel Choir is thrilled to present the Midwest premiere of Heather Sorenson’s new oratorio, Jubilaeum.Jubilaeum is an oratorio that illuminates the Nativity through the lens of the biblical Year of Jubilee, an ancient observance described in Leviticus 25. Every 50th year, a trumpet announced a sacred season of restoration: debts were forgiven, captives released, land returned, and communities offered a renewed beginning. Though rooted in the social and economic life of ancient Israel, Jubilee also became a powerful theological symbol of mercy, freedom, and redemption.
