Please join us at Our Giving Garden for this special event! We'll have story time, coloring sheets, activity pages, and a face painting station. All of our presented activities are structured around educating visitors through fun, engaging, and age-appropriate ways that tie in the wonderful world of wildlife that utilize the garden property.Event is geared towards children Pre-K-5th, but all are welcome. This is not a drop-off event- Parents must accompany their children. To join us, please RSVP so we can prepare the proper amount of materials.
This event has been planned, and will be put on by the Conservation Science class at Garden Gate (at Our Giving Garden). They've been working this semester on science communication, and this event will allow them to build skills in the areas of event planning, project planning, leadership, and more. Data has been collected over the past couple of years at the garden, including by many of these students, to grow Our Giving Garden's Biodiversity Inventory. We've been tracking the wild animals, plants, and fungi found on this property, to see just how many different species rely on this little greenspace corner of a developing neighborhood. Using this data, the students have created educational activities to share about some of these species with garden visitors, and those in attendance at this event will be the FIRST to get to experience them! For attending adults, you can also help us grow our inventory lists, but taking photos of wildlife you see in the garden while you're here and adding it to our NEW iNaturalist project, Our Giving Garden Biodiversity Project.
When you arrive, we'll greet you at the front gate and inside the main garden. In the event of inclement weather, this event will be cancelled and/or rescheduled for a later date.
While this is a FREE event, students will be collecting cash donations this day to put towards other projects they're working on, including more educational deliverables for the public when they visit the garden.
Please come help us celebrate the student's hard work, and learn about some of the wild species visiting the garden!
