About this Event
This May Day, we are taking to the streets — and throwing a party.
May Day: Joy as Resistance is a free, family-friendly community celebration in the heart of Logan Square, organized by a coalition of Avondale and Logan Square small businesses in solidarity with International Workers' Day and everyone in our community who is navigating this moment.
This is not a protest. This is not a fundraiser. This is a space for our community to gather, dance, eat, receive, and support one another — because right now, showing up for each other is the resistance.
"We are not here to advertise our businesses. We are here because our community needs a space to gather, to be seen, and to feel supported. Come dance with us. Come receive. Come give. This is our neighborhood — and our resistance looks like a party."
Every vendor, healer, and performer has been chosen intentionally — Hispanic, Indigenous, and POC community members whose businesses and livelihoods have been directly impacted by ICE and this administration's rulings. Your attendance and support puts money directly in their hands and visibility on their work.
