About this Event
Calling Spooky Season fans of all ages! Local drag queen Valshapero and a cast including Asher Wood, Babel, Kalypso, and Vortexx are hosting a PG-rated family Halloween drag storytime, show, and dance party! This is an all-ages event, so whether you are bringing your kids to this inclusive event or you're an adult who just wants to enjoy a PG drag show, you're absolutely welcome.
Drag events like this, which are designed for families, have many benefits! Seeing a diversity of gender expression helps all of us, kids and adults alike, to understand and accept people who are different from us. Drag hosts' playfulness around self-expression removes the fear and stigma from each of our own exploration of self, creating room for joy and safety. And, as Alameda County Library says, "Drag storytime is an act of resilient joy, of public celebration, a rainbow welcome path. Drag storytime performers are well versed in presenting age-appropriate material to children."
A safety plan will be in place in partnership with A Seat at the Table Community Initiative and Elk Grove United Methodist Church for this event.
Our cafe will be open for your Italian soda, cold brew, pizza, and ice cream needs. No outside food, please!
