Joshua Arnold and Therine are a folk duo from the North West consisting of Joshua (hurdy gurdy, upright bass, saz, and DIY instruments) and Therine (vocals, recorder, harmonium and drums). This November they bring their hurdy gurdy and vocal-led drone folk to Penzance to bring in Halloween and Samhain. Bringing their Samhain set to The Acorn on November 4th, expect instrumentally eclectic sets of trad folk songs from their recent album; a collection of traditional folk music of the British Isles, showcasing themes of the dark and macabre, as well as dense and booming Playford hurdy gurdy tunes, and original experimental folk, featuring historically accurate charms and Prayers about 1612’s Lancashire witch trials (the subject of their first album). A dark and theatrical folk horror performance, perfect for the season.
